Marketing Archives

If you’re researching home-based businesses, you may have come across a “top-tier” internet marketing opportunity and wondered exactly what the term meant. A “top-tier” program is an internet marketing opportunity which deals with direct sales. That is to say you sell a product directly to someone and get paid up front (no waiting period). This is in contrast to say an MLM program where you are dependent on the sales made by your downline (people who you have personally recruited into the company) to generate income for you.

In general, top-tier program generally attracts a high-calibre customer… that is to say, a customer who is genuinely serious about starting their own home-based business… not a “tire-kicker”, and not someone who is “maybe” looking to start their own home-based business. How do top-tier companies filter out tire-kickers? This is usually done by having a paid application in place in order to see if you qualify to join the company. A lot of people question this process, however what they don’t realize is the insane amount of people looking to work from home. In a top-tier program, you will generally sign up under a mentor. It would be literally impossible for the mentor to provide the required training to anyone expressing any interest in the program (most of whom won’t be serious enough to put in the required effort to succeed anyway). The application will generally filter-out those with lack of interest, and ensure you work with a finite number of high-calibre like-minded individuals.

A top-tier internet marketing program will generally sell products which generate $1000 in commission or more per sale. Commissions are paid to you directly by your customer, hence you receive your commission right away. Although you will be generating your commissions through sales, your job in a direct sales company is not as a sales person, and actually far from it. Your job will be to market your business opportunity. That is to say, you will be getting your opportunity out there online to as many people as possible through a variety of methods. If someone wishes to join you, they come to you, as opposed to you seeking them out and trying to push your opportunity on them. A reputable top-tier company will train you to market your opportunity with the best strategies so you’re not left high and dry wondering how to proceed.

There is currently a huge market out there in the online direct sales industry. If you’re looking to start your own home-based business, do your due diligence and find a reputable direct sales opportunity to join.

THE PROBLEM WITH MULTI LEVEL MARKETING

If you’re currently struggling with your home-based Multi Level Marketing (MLM) business, you’re not alone. In fact, the attrition rate in MLM within the first 90 days is 90%… that is to say that 90% of MLM newcomers quit within their first 90 days in the business. With a business model reliant on residual income generated by your downline, no wonder so many MLM’ers are failing today.

Before I continue I should say that some people definitely are successful in MLM. There are some incredibly successful MLM’ers currently marketing today. These people are however in the huge minority, and have generally been distributers in their respective companies for years. For example, the income disclosure statement on the official Monavie website reveals that LESS THAN 1% of Monavie distributers in the United States currently make over $200 000 a year. Less than 1%… those are horrible statistics.

Why is it so difficult to run a successful MLM business today? Well there are a few reasons. First and foremost, to run a successful MLM business (for example’s sake let’s denote successful as generating $10 000 a month), you need literally thousands of distributers in your downline. That is to say, you need to have personally recruited thousands of people into your company. Your income is directly dependent on how many people are in your downline, and how successful they are. Trying to accomplish this in today’s MLM market is like trying to fill a leaking bucket; as stated previously, 90% of MLM newcomers leave the business within their first 90 days. With these statistics it’s near impossible to build a downline which will generate significant income for you.

Moreover, MLM training is generally lacking, and will have you pestering friends and family to join you. In MLM YOU will be selling other people on your business opportunity, i.e. you will have to approach them and convince them to join you. This is a marketing tactic which frankly generally does not work, and which most people hate doing, especially to friends and family. Is this something you want to be doing? I doubt it. A successful business should have people seeking you out because you have something of value to offer them, not the other way around. A top-tier non-MLM internet marketing company will show you how to do this.

If you’re discouraged after reading this, don’t be. There are plenty of other legitimate opportunities out there for those of you looking to start your own home-based businesses. You can be generating $10 000 to $15 000 a month with ten new customers or LESS a month (not thousands… and not your family and friends) in a top-tier internet marketing company. Furthermore, you won’t be reliant on the residual income provided by your downline, and attrition is simply not a factor.

THE QUESTION, TOP TIER MARKETING VS MLM

Many people looking to start home-based businesses look to Multi Level Marketing (MLM) or top-tier internet marketing, yet are uninformed about either industry. Either option can be lucrative, however in today’s market there are many reasons to avoid MLM. The following article will discuss the differences between each industry, and why top-tier marketing is currently the place to be.

To begin, for anyone who’s unaware of what I mean by a “top-tier” internet marketing company, I am referring to a marketing company that generally attracts a high calibre customer… that is to say, a customer who is genuinely serious about starting their own home-based business. Top-tier internet marketing companies market products which generally pay $1000+ commissions up-front (meaning you receive your commission immediately). Conversely, MLM companies generally market lower-end products which generate smaller incomes, and which you will have to distribute more of to generate the same income. Typical MLM products are health juices, vitamins, beauty products, diet products, and so on.

Compensation

In MLM you are compensated not only by how many people are in your downline (people who you have personally recruited into the company), but also how successful your downline is. This can be problematic, as the attrition rate in MLM is currently 90% within the first 90 days… that is to say that 90% of MLM newcomers quit within their first 90 days in the business. Moreover, it would take literally thousands of people in your downline to be generate a $10 000 a month income. Building a downline of thousands is not easy when 90% of people you recruit leave you within 90 days.

With a top-tier internet marketing company, you can generate a monthly income of $10 000 with 10 customers or LESS a month. This income is not dependent on your downline… you receive this income the moment your new customer decides to join you (whether they decide to quit down the road is irrelevant).

Marketing

MLM companies generally do not provide their distributors with the best marketing training. The fact is that many of the best marketing techniques are simply not lucrative for MLM’ers because the cost of recruiting a new customer is greater than the income generated by that new recruit. As such, most MLM distributors are reliant on friends and family to join them in order to make a success of their new business. Unless you’re a fan of pitching your new business opportunity to friends and family and trying to convince them to join you, MLM is likely not for you.

In a top-tier company you will be marketing your opportunity the millions online searching daily for home-based business opportunities (not your friends or family). Moreover, the top-tier company you’ve joined will train you to market your opportunity with the best free and paid strategies. With such large commissions, many simple paid marketing strategies which are not lucrative in MLM can produce a great Return on Investment with a top-tier opportunity.

Cost

Some MLM’ers may like to argue that top-tier opportunities are more expensive, which generally is simply not true. Is a top-tier opportunity more expensive up front? Yes, but this is a one-time fee… one time, and that’s it. Furthermore, you will regain your initial investment much quicker as you will be receiving large commissions as you gain customers… you will not have to wait for your new customer to generate income for you. In MLM your start-up cost might be lower, but you’re going to be charged a monthly fee to buy and ship your product. If you’re in MLM for the long-haul, these fees will exceed the one-time fee you would have paid for your top-tier opportunity.

As a final note, if you decide to join an internet marketing company, beware who you join… not all internet marketing companies are top-tier, and a lot of them are flat out scams. Do your research and join a reputable company.
